Regional organ associations
In TCM, tongue regions are read as clues about functional organ networks—not as anatomical pictures of the organs themselves. Select a region to see what practitioners relate it to and how that association fits into a broader pattern.
Tip
The tip of the tongue is traditionally associated with the Heart within TCM's tongue-map framework. A red or swollen tip is commonly discussed as a reflection of Heart Heat or emotional strain.
Sacred Lotus describes the Heart channel's Luo collateral connecting to the root and body of the tongue — one reason traditional descriptions place such emphasis on the relationship between Heart and tongue.
A change in one region does not diagnose a problem in its associated organ. Practitioners compare its color, coating, shape, and moisture with symptoms, pulse, history, and other signs before forming a pattern.
